Service to the Noble Science – Friedrich Krauss in letters to Tihomir R. Đorđević

Abstract

The legacy of Tihomir R. Đorđević in the National Library of Serbia preserves an exceptionally rich correspondence of the Serbian ethnologist and folklorist. The significance of this material is particularly great if we bear in mind the fact that in a large number of cases it concerns insufficiently known data that can supplement not only the idea of the history of Serbian folkloristics, but also the broader history of Serbian culture, private and socio-political life. This paper presents the results of research into the corpus of letters sent by the Austrian folklorist Friedrich S. Krauss to Tihomir R. Đorđević from 1899. to 1912.
